One short check, before you travel

The official way to declare your health and recent travel before you arrive at any Malawian airport or border. It protects everyone — and means less waiting.

It’s for travellers

Anyone entering Malawi. You don’t work for the government and you don’t need a login.

It’s free

No charge, ever. No one will ask you to pay. Use only the official address.

It’s quick

About three minutes. Your answers stay on your device as you go.

Step 1 — Your trip: choose where and when you arrive, the country you’re coming from, and how you’re travelling.
1

Tell us about your trip

Choose where you’ll enter Malawi, the day you arrive, the country you’re coming from, and how you’re travelling.

  • Start typing your point of entry, then pick it from the list.
  • Arrival date defaults to today — set it up to two days ahead.
  • Add any countries you visited in the last 21 days.
GuideNot sure which entry point? Choose the airport or land border named on your ticket — e.g. Kamuzu International Airport or Mwanza border.
Step 2 — About you: name, date of birth, nationality, travel document and contact details.
2

Tell us who you are

Enter your details exactly as they appear on your passport or travel document, and a number where you can be reached.

  • Use the name on your travel document so it matches at the border.
  • Give a reachable phone number and an emergency contact.
  • Travelling as a family? Add your companions here.
GuideWhy we ask. Your contact details are used only by authorised health officers if they need to reach you about your health.
Step 3 — Your health: do you feel sick or have symptoms today, and any recent exposures.
3

Answer the health questions

Tell us how you feel and whether you’ve had any possible exposures in the last three weeks.

  • Tap Yes and a short list of symptoms appears — tick what applies.
  • Feeling well? Tap No and continue.
  • Answering honestly is not a barrier to entry.
GuideHonesty helps you. Declaring a symptom doesn’t stop you entering — it lets an officer help you faster and more privately.
Step 4 — Check your answers, give consent, and pass a quick human check before submitting.
4

Check your answers & confirm

Review everything on one screen, read the short privacy note, give consent, and pass a quick automatic human check. Then submit.

  • Go Back to fix anything before you submit.
  • No puzzles and no login — just a one-tap human check.
GuideAlmost done. Once you submit, your answers are saved securely and your pass is created instantly.

Get your QR health pass

You’ll see an All done screen with a QR code and a reference number. Show it on arrival.

  • Tap Save image to keep the pass on your phone.
  • Reopen your pass anytime using your reference.
  • No internet at the border? The reference number still works.
GuideKeep it handy. Have the QR code or your reference (like MW-7X42-QH9) ready before you reach the officer — it’s all they need.

What happens when you arrive

  1. An officer scans your pass. Your answers appear instantly — you don’t repeat anything.
  2. Most travellers go straight through. A completed check with no concerns means a quick look and you’re on your way.
  3. If a closer look is needed, you’re referred to secondary screening — a short, private, precautionary follow-up. It doesn’t mean you’re ill.
GuideNo pass? You can still travel. An officer screens you at the post — it just takes a little longer. You can also screen on your phone while you wait.
A milestone for Malawi

A modern, paperless front door at every border

It replaces slow paper forms with a fast digital declaration that works even where the network is weak — strengthening Malawi’s ability to detect and respond to health threats, in line with the International Health Regulations.

Your data & privacy

What we collect, and why — in plain terms.

Used only for border health

Solely to screen travellers at Malawi’s points of entry, by authorised Ministry of Health officers.

Stored securely

Encrypted, on the Government of Malawi’s own system — visible only to authorised staff for your point of entry.

You enter it once

Officers re-use your details through your pass rather than asking again at the border.
